Attainment and Progress
Progress of Pupils at St John’s Middle School
We are very proud of the outstanding progress that our pupils make and the data shown below shows the percentage of pupils making exceptional and expected progress from entry in year 5 to exit in year 8.
St John’s Middle School uses externally benchmarked, moderated and validated assessments to judge the progress pupils make across their four years at the school. Pupils are tested in both English and Maths at the end of each year and on entry into year 5 to provide us with robust and accurate data to measure pupil progress.
The assessments we use have been acknowledged by OFSTED and the DFE for providing quality data in which to make judgements about the progress of pupils in middle schools. This is particularly important to us because the DFE have previously judged middle schools based on the progress from end of year 2 (KS1) to end of year 6 (KS2) which means that 50% of the progress measure relates to years 3 and 4 when pupils are not attending middle school.
We are very proud of the outstanding progress that our pupils make and the data shown below shows the percentage of pupils making exceptional and expected progress from entry in year 5 to exit in year 8.

“The government will not publish KS2 school level data for the 2021 to 2022 academic year. The last available public data is from the 2018 to 2019 academic year. It is important to note that the data from that year may no longer reflect current performance.”
